Design Brief: Elegant Transitional
This home is nestled in a typical neighborhood development – like many aging homes, it was lacking unique characteristics to set it apart. Our designer created a new kitchen that feels elegant and refined, with touches of modern details.
We used a wide-rail shaker door style because of the clean lines of the door profile – this provided a visual anchor to the space. We also paired classic white cabinets with a large format herringbone floor tile, and carried the herringbone pattern through to the marble backsplash tile.
We were working with an almost blank slate after demolishing the old kitchen, so we decided to add the brick walls you see around the fridge and hall entryway. The white-wash treatment softens the brick element.
This is a high-functioning kitchen for a busy family. We incorporated hidden storage that included a spice drawer and peg board drawer for pot and pan storage in the cooking area. There’s a secondary coffee station hidden within the pantries that features a roll-out shelf for accessories.
Our favorite thing about this space is how it feels like you’ve been transported to another country, it really doesn’t feel like you’re standing in a Phoenix home. The space feels completely transformed!
